Urasue, an evil witch, kidnapped Kagome so that she might use her soul to resurrect the lost priestess Kikyo, a priestess Inuyasha has a history with. Inuyashas older brother, Sesshomaru, who is a full demon, crosses paths with Inuyasha in his search for the powerful sword that was left behind by their father. 1 Sango goes back to the slayer village in order to fix her Hiraikotsu, and Kagome goes back to the well so she can return to the present day.
This is the fifteenth episode in the first season of Inuyasha. Ironically, it’s Kikyo that helps Kagome break out of this fantasy world. Using Kikyo to draw out Kagome is a way to remind us that Kagome cares for the people of the Feudal Era and cares about what happens, even if it’s not her home. There’s also the reminder of Kagome’s ties to Kikyo in her defeating Tsubaki in the same way the priestess did fifty years ago.
